If you have every fished for sea-trout we’re sure that you would have heard of this magical area; Tierra Del Fuego (TDF). TDF is the home of leviathan sea-trout, the area is a true angling mecca for anyone that avidly pursues sea-trout - it’s one of the ‘must fish’ destinations in a lifetime, and with good reason! From the gargantuan sea-trout that inhabit the Rio Grande, through to the myriad of lakes scattered around that play home to fin-perfect, hard-fighting, arm-aching, brown-trout and Rainbow-trout. The area has it all, along with stunning scenery and nature in its rawest form.

When the season in the Northern hemisphere draws to a close the season in the Southern hemisphere springs into life. The angling opportunities in the area are abound, whatever takes your fancy we’re sure that something in this magical destination will suit. Fancy a week trip staying at one of the famous lodges that overlook the mighty rio (river) Grande? No problem! Or, how about mixing it up a little, breaking the monotony by venturing out to one of the several lakes in the area (we fished one lake where around 40 brown-trout were brought to hand in one day between two of us, the smallest of which were 2lb with the largest being close to 8lb!). In addition, we are the sole distributors of fishing packages for one of the Estancia’s (Estates) in Argentina! We have set-up the fishing packages for them, having fished and explored their waters, and can now offer them to you! Again, you will not find these elsewhere. In addition, this package involves you staying with the Goodall family - the family that introduced trout to these waters decades ago through laborious hatchery schemes and flying in eggs from areas such as Loch Leven. Staying with this family is an experience in itself, the hospitality, stories and history are unsurpassed and help you get a true taste of the area - they will happily show you some of the old manuscripts and stocking diaries that the late John Goodall left as a legacy - truly fascinating. We are honoured to have the Goodalls on board, especially as we are their only distributors worldwide!

Fishing season: Peak sport would be in the months of January, February, March and April. We have the knowledge to be able to advise you on when you should be where, so contact us with your requirements and we’ll do the rest.

Accomodation

Can be tailored and arranged to your exacting needs. We can arrange anything from campsites, B&B’s, plush hotels, through to self-catering cottages (all are subject to local availability). Contact us with your requirements and we will do the rest

Fishing licences and permits

Permits will be included in the price of the package and will be arranged prior to your arrival – they will await you at your accommodation, or your guide will have them for you on guided days. We want to make your stay as enjoyable and stress-free as possible, ensuring that’s all you have to concentrate on is catching fish!

Tackle

Any rod between 9ft and 10’6ft with a line rating of between 7-9 will suffice for sea-trout; usual resevoir/stillwater rods are great - 10ft for 8 line is ideal. Double-handers are also viable options, with 13-14ft rods with 8-10 lines being ideal. Reels are to your preference, however, a decent drag system is recommended as is lots of backing! A floating line, intermediate line, and a heavy grain sinking line or sink tip line, accompanied with some poly-leaders are all that’s required. Nylon in strengths of 10,12 and 15lbs should be carried. Our guides will provide flies for the fishing session and advise you on set-ups and tactics (on guided days).
