| Czech Republic Fishing package holidays; Grayling, Carp, Barbel, Brown and Rainbow Trout! |
|
|
From Barbel on the fly, lakes full of wild fish within easy reach of Prague , through to boulder strewn streams and meandering lowland rivers brimming with brown-trout, rainbow-trout, brook-charr, and Grayling – the Czech Republic has this, and more!
We were slightly hesitant about our Czech trip; not really sure what our fishing brethren who continue to produce the top anglers in the World had to offer the visiting angler. To say that we were pleasantly surprised would be an understatement! From wild trout a few miles outside of Prague , through to carp on the fly – an experience that has to be tried. Then there’s the trout, brook-charr, and grayling fishing that was some of the best we’ve ever experienced – the olive hatches are amazing, and to see several grayling over 40cm gorging on them will get anyone’s pulse racing. Compliment this with the kindest nation you’d ever meet, unspoilt settings, and the best beer in the World costing less than £1 a pint and you’ve got yourself a destination that dreams are made of!
Fancy trying your hand at ‘czech-nymphing’? No problem, our guides are masters of the art and can combine your fishing package with lessons in this revolutionary and deadly method. Or, how about escaping from the hustle and bustle of Prague for a day’s float-tubing for wild rainbow-trout or chasing barbel on the fly? No problem! We have venues within close vicinity to the capital that can easily be |
|
| incorporated as day-trips, we’ve got it covered! We can even work a few days fishing around a pre-booked family holiday, a welcome break. Contact us with your requirements and we’ll do the rest.

| Fishing Season |
Trout; Although starting in April and ending in August (November for Rainbow Trout) on most of the rivers we cover, peak sport would be in the months of May, June and August. However, July can fish well on some rivers. Our experienced, local guides have their fingers on the pulse and will help you capitalise fully on your trip, they know where the best action is!
Grayling; Sport can be prolific in almost any fishable month, with grayling being more obliging in colder or adverse weather conditions than the trout. Dry-fly and wet-fly sport is successful throughout the season, with grayling feeding avidly on most days. We have the knowledge to be able to advise you on when you should be where, so contact us with your requirements and we’ll do the rest.
|
| Accommodation |
| Can be tailored and arranged to your exacting needs. We can arrange anything from campsites, B&B’s, plush hotels, |
 |
through to self-catering cottages. Contact us with your requirements and we will do the rest. Please note that cottages and self catering units should be booked several months in advance to assure availability – they book up fast, as can hotels and B&B’s. |
| Fishing licences and permits |
Permits will be included in the price of the package and will be arranged prior to your arrival – they will await you at your accommodation, or your guide will have them for you on guided days. We want to make your stay as enjoyable and stress-free as possible, ensuring that’s all you have to concentrate on is catching fish! |
| Tackle |
| Any rod between 8ft and 9’6”ft with a line rating of between 3-6 will suffice for the trout and grayling; ideally a 9ft for 5 line. Reels are to your preference, but make sure that they have plenty of backing and a decent drag system! A floating line is all that’s required to cover most eventualities, however, an intermediate and a fast-sinker can be useful when streamer fishing on the larger rivers or fishing on the lakes. Nylon in strengths between 2-8lbs should be carried. Our guides will provide flies for the |
|
| fishing session and advise you on set-ups and tactics (on guided days). Tackle is available on loan for those without suitable set-ups, and for those that don’t want the hassle of bringing fishing gear with them on holiday. |
| Flies |
Flies are provided on guided days, and the guides will discuss what to use and when – maximising your chances of catching and broadening your knowledge and experience. Flies can be purchased from us in advance of your trip (available for booked packages only), being flies suitable both in size and style for the river you will fish. As recommendations, we would advise carrying the following patterns: nymphs; pheasant tail nymphs (both flashback and beaded versions), hare’s ear, Czech nymphs (range of colours from olive to pink), peeping caddis flies. These should be carried in a range of sizes from 8 to 18.
|
| Dries; olive imitations are a must! General patterns such as the f-fly, klinks, stimulators, cdc adams work very well and should be carried in various sizes from 10-24 and in various colours. For the lakes; buzzers are very effective for the carp and the trout. White booby patterns work very well when fished on the washing line method. |
|
| Clothing |
| chest waders are recommended, although wading above waist height is rarely necessary. Wading/rain jacket. A wading staff may be useful and buoyancy aids are highly recommended. Warm clothing should be taken as a precautionary measure. |
|
| Travel arrangements |
| We can arrange a hire car from most major airports. Transfers can be arranged to your accommodation, at an extra cost. The fishing guides can pick you up and take you back to your accommodation (on guided days), should you require this service. |
